Mr. James Lee Jimmy Sloan, age 61, faithful husband of Betty Ann Rampley Sloan, and a resident of Hidden Lakes Circle in Columbia, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Vassar and Jim Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 4:00 " 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service at 2:00 on Tuesday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements. Jimmy was born on June 5, 1951 in Nashville, TN and was the son of the late James Riley Sloan and the late Wilda Bowman Sloan. He served our country in the United States Army, worked as the service manager at Sloan Ford in Columbia, and attended St. Catherine Catholic Church. He loved his family and was a faithful husband and dedicated father. Jimmy was an honest and generous man who everyone loved the moment they met him. He had no boundaries and was full of life. Everyone who knew him will remember his big hearty laugh and his sweet smile. He was a loyal FSU Seminole football fan who also enjoyed golf and 70s classic rock music. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters: Christy Leann Sloan (Brian) Helms of Columbia, Jessica Marie Sloan of Nashville; son, James Clifton Sloan of Columbia; two brothers: Riley Dee (Karen) Sloan of Columbia, Richard Harrison Sloan of Augusta, GA; six sisters: Anita Marie Edenfield of Moultrie, GA, Teresa Lynne (Eddie) Fletcher of Leesburg, GA, Susan Karen (John) Williams of Augusta, GA, Cynthia Cecille (Richard) Russell of Crawfordville, FL, Carol Frances (Wallace) Hill of Madison, FL, Patricia Louise (David) Hester of Hendersonville, TN; and his beloved dogs: Zorro, Koopa, and Barkley. Pallbearers will be: Donnie Collins, Michael Baker, John Kirk, Roy Vick, Ronnie Woody, Mark Plunkett, Eddie Fletcher, and Jonathan Heier. The employees of Sloan Ford Lincoln Mercury, Billy Plant, Pete Moore, John & Jordan Dale, Timothy Baker, Don Haislip, C.J. Ripley, and Jeff Southworth will serve as honorary pallbearers.
