John Eugene Smith

Mr. John E. "Buzz" Smith, age 61, and a resident of Willis Drive in Hohenwald, TN passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at his residence. Memorial services will be Friday September 14, 2012 at 7 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Rock Jagger officiating. The family will also receive friends from 5 - 7 PM on Friday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements. John was born on October 31, 1950 in Nashville, TN. He was the son of the late Kenneth and Ernestine Odom. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Nashville, and he was baptized there at an early age. He enjoyed visiting people and was a creative man who expressed his creativity through drawing. John was a previous employee of Yellow Freight Line Trucking where he served as a truck driver. He loved his family including his nieces, nephews and friends. John is survived by his son: John L. Smith of Nashville, TN; daughter: Victoria R. Smith of Nashville, TN; three brothers: Kenneth (Renee) Odom of Hohenwald, TN, Jonathan (Anna) Odom of Hampshire, TN, William (Lisa) Odom of Hampshire, TN; two sisters: Diane (Dennis) Sparkman of Hohenwald, TN, and Melissa (Brian) Odom of Hohenwald, TN. He is also survived by his uncle: J.C. Venoy of Nashville; Great-aunt: Edna Barbara of Buffalo, NY; eleven nieces: Jennifer, Beverly, Sara, April, Latoya, Shanika, Kendra, Amanda, Justice, Cassie, and Jayleah; three nephews: Frank, Lathon, and Jude, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Kenneth and Ernestine (Smith) Odom and his wife, Rita Smith. You may send condolences to the family at the top of this page.
