Annice Cates Nanny Roberts, age 75, and a resident of Highland Avenue, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points and Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 4:00 " 9:00 PM in the Hunter Room of Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements. A native of Maury County, Annice was born on September 16, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Roy and Pearlie May Cates. She was of the Baptist faith and previously worked as a waitress for different area restaurants. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always had a wonderful time at family gatherings. Before his passing, she enjoyed singing with her twin brother, Bobby Lee, and she had a special relationship with her son-in-law, Gordon. She also had a special place in her heart for her cat, Ms. Kitty. Annice was a wonderful cook who liked listening to Elvis recordings and watching her favorite TV shows. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Hank (Elaine) Roberts of Columbia, Wesley (Helen) Roberts of Culleoka, Marty (Jan) Roberts of Culleoka, Doris (Gordon) Thomas of Columbia, Yolanda (Steve Hodge) Roberts of Columbia, and Penny (Clifford) Cates of Columbia; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; special friend, Carolyn Roberts; and her beloved cat, Ms. Kitty. In addition to her parents and twin brother, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Harold Roberts; brothers: J.B. Cates, Ueiel Cates; sister, Jennie Mai Morton; nephews, Wayne and Steve Cates; niece, Colene Dooley; and several cousins. Pallbearers will be Bradley Thomas, Jeremy Roberts, Roy Roberts, Steve Hodge, Chris Harris, B.J. Cates, Jacob Cates, and Joseph Woodard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve and Wayne Cates, Gordon Thomas, Jan Roberts, Elaine Roberts, Helen Roberts, Bubba Cates, and friends from Johnnys Market.
