Nathaniel (Nathan) Alan Barnes, 29, resident of Apache Trail in Columbia, TN, died unexpectedly Saturday, December 31, 2011. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2012 at West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Terry Peery officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 4:00 " 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Born in Columbia, Nathan attended Maury County Schools. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida he graduated from high school and continued his education by studying phlebotomy. He received certification as a phlebotomist and worked for Core Physicians for a short time. Nathan was currently employed by Tegrant Corp. in Mt. Pleasant. He attended West Point C.P. Church. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies, but his favorite pastime was to fish for bass in the quiet waters of the rivers and lakes in Maury County. He is survived by his father, Robert E. Barnes of Columbia, TN; one brother, Jonathan (Shanna) Barnes of Ethridge, TN; paternal grandmother, Ms. Minnie Barnes of Columbia, TN; maternal grandparents, Charles and Sue Watson Parrish of Columbia, TN; nephews, Myles and Colton Barnes of Ethridge, TN; and several uncles, aunts, great uncles and great aunts. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vickie Parrish Brubaker and his paternal grandfather, Eugene Barnes. Active pallbearers will be: Mike Beard, Tommy Beard, Johnny Butler, Lewis Nichols, Dan Watkins and Brian Parent. Honorary pallbearers are members of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
