Mr. Jimmy Childress, age 57, husband of Judy Childress, and a resident of Knob Creek Road in Columbia, Tennessee, lost his battle with lung cancer on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 20, 2011 at 5 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday December 20, 2011 at 4 PM until the service hour. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and is in charge of the arrangements. A native of Maury County, Tennessee, he was the son of Jack Norman Childress and Betty (Bible) Childress. He served in the United States Army. He was a mechanic and owned his own business. He was a true outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a survivalist and he learned that from his military training. He loved fixing and driving hot rods. He was always happy and enjoyed being able to help other people. His family stated that his positive attitude was always greater than the negative. In addition to his parents and loving wife Judy, he left behind to cherish his memory two sons: Jack Childress of Columbia, TN, Cody Childress of Lewisburg, TN; two daughters: Sherry Jo Childress of Oklahoma, Brandy Lee Childress of Lewis County, TN, one stepson, Benjiman Campbell of LaPorte, IN; one stepdaughter, Christine Leets of Westfield, IN; 7 grandchildren; two brothers, Mark Childress and Bobby Childress both of Columbia, TN.
