Mr. David DuPree, age 74, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Parkway Baptist Church at 6:00 PM with Bro. Mike Roberts officiating. There he will lie in state from 4:00 " 6:00 PM. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, January 21 from 4:00 " 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Viewing will continue on Tuesday, January 22 from 9:00 AM " 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Final services will be conducted Wednesday, January 23 at 1:00 PM at the Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA. Burial will follow at the Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, GA. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of all arrangements. Dave was born on August 7, 1938 in Marietta, GA. He was the son of the late Virgil Jessie and Annie Lou DuPree. He was a man of God who was a member Parkway Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon and a Sunday school teacher for as long as his health allowed. Dave was also a royal ambassador trainer and was active for many years at Eastwood Baptist Church in Marietta, GA. He worked at General Motors for 43 ½ years where he first started on the assembly line and later advanced to an industrial electrician before he retired in 2000. He was proud of his service for our country which he served from 1961 " 1967 in the United States Army. Dave loved working on computers and connecting with others, and from the comfort of his recliner, he enjoyed watching a good western, especially John Wayne. In addition to his wife, Brenda, of 51 years, he is survived by his daughter, Jana Lynn DuPree of North Palm Beach, FL and sister, Yvonne Touchton of Moultrie, GA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Sue Morris, Catherine Wingo, Odene Ingram, Betty Guthrie, James DuPree, Bill DuPree and V.J. DuPree. Wray Wright, Ben Stoner, James Scott, Clay Pruitt, Hal Boaz, and Marty Price will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill DuPree, Dan DuPree, James Watson, and Ken McIntyre.
