Mr. Joseph A. Sweigard, Jr., age 80 and husband of Margaret Sweigard, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Southern Care Assisted Living in Franklin, TN. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, 434 B Street in Carlisle, PA. Officiating will be Reverend Daniel Mikesell, Reverend Gary Waisner of Ramseur, NC and Reverend Paul Gorog of York, PA, President of the York Rescue Mission. Music will be provided by pianist Janice Page of Graham, NC. Inurnment in Longs Cemetery in Halifax, PA. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 " 11:00 AM at the church and luncheon will be served at the church after the service. Mr. Sweigard was born in Halifax, PA and attended Penn State at the York, PA campus. He was self-employed as a construction estimator and a very active member of the Wesleyan Church. He was a very generous person who gave of himself to many. Mr. Sweigard was a member and past president of the York Rescue Mission for a number of years. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, Margaret Sweigard, he is survived by sons, Richard Sweigard of Lexington, KY, Phillip Bunting of West Jefferson, NC and Paul bunting of Elizabethtown, KY; daughter, J. Rebecca Becky Davis of Franklin, TN; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Rev. Joseph A. and Minnie S. Sweigard and brother, Loren Sweigard.
