Mr. James W. Lanius, age 79, husband of Ella (Collins) Stanfill Lanius, and a resident of Mt. Joy Road in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A graveside service for Mr. Lanius will be held on Tuesday, November 01, 2011 @ 1:00 PM at Polk Memorial Garden with Rev. Eddie Rodgers officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, prior to the graveside service. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements. A native of Wilson County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Earl Lambert Lanius and the late Addie Elizabeth Allison. He worked as a truck driver for Roy Gallaher Trucking Company and later retired from Arrow Propane. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving and caring family man who enjoyed working in his garden and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Although, he had varied interests in life, there was one that he enjoyed more than any other and that was telling his grandchildren stories. They loved to hear as he would recapture his past to them through his story telling. This sweet husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law will truly be missed by all of his friends and family. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Lanius left behind to cherish his memory four sons: Carl (Sherry) Lanius of Columbia, TN, James "Heavy" W. (Michele) Lanius of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Tommy (Rhonda) Stanfill of Columbia, TN and David (Beth) Stanfill of Columbia, TN; two daughters: Phyllis (Terry) Gilbert of Lynnville, TN and Diane (Bob) Long of Chapel Hill, TN; grandchildren, Will Lanius, Wyatt Lanius, Carla Mayberry, Nicole Lanius, Tommy Stanfill, Jonathan Stanfill, Rebecca Prince, Cassie Couch, Terry Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, Amy Gilbert, Casey Long, Rachele Long and eleven great grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will include Mr. and Mrs. William Allen, Bobby Beckum, Don Olson, Odel Haywood and his grandsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Dianne Lanius, his first wife, Doris Fay Attkisson Lanius, a brother, Earl Lanius and a sister Chloe Dick.
