Mr. Tommy McCaleb, age 56, husband of Melanie Taylor McCaleb, and a resident of Lewisburg, TN passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A native of Lewisburg, Tommy was born on June 26, 1956 and was the son of the late Wade McCaleb and Ara Thomas McCaleb. He had a great passion and talent for music and played numerous instruments. He was well known for his lead guitar, steel guitar and banjo picking but his latest conquest was the dobro. He was the lead guitar player for Wynn Varble's band and also a part of the band on The Joey and Rory Show on RFD-TV. A few years back he got to achieve the dream of most musicians and that was playing on the Grand Old Opry. Fishing and golf were also hobbies he enjoyed. He loved his family dearly, was full of life and had a laugh that was contagious. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Joshua Taylor McCaleb of Lewisburg; daughter, Ashley Paige McCaleb of Lewisburg; sister, Wadene (Jerry) Pope of Linden; mother-in-law, Johnnie Taylor of Hopkinsville; sister-in-law, Beth Lancaster of Hopkinsville; nephews: Matthew Lancaster, Deke Pope; and niece, Mallory Lancaster. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Zachary Pope. A celebration of his life will be Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor John Snow officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Tim Flippen, Wynn Varble, Deke Pope, Matthew Lancaster, Tyler Flippen, and Chance Martin. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up at Hewgley's Music Store from which music lessons will be provided for young folks who would love to find their passion for music. Donations can be mailed to Hewgley's at 1860 Shady Brook Street, Columbia TN 38401. You may share condolences with the family at the top of this page.
