John L. Burt

May 21, 1958 - November 23, 2013

Mr. John L. Burt was born on May 21, 1958 in Maury County, Tennessee. He was blessed into the embrace of his Heavenly Father on November 23, 2013 surrounded by the love of his family and friends. John was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church on Theta Pike and served faithfully there until his health failed. Mr. Burt was a well-respected welder who was hired all over the nation. His proudest assignment was working for NASA. He prayed for people every day. He sought out sad faces at Wal-Mart and spoke to the Father on their behalf. He was preceded in death by his champion and brother-in-law: Jimmy Darnell of Franklin; his father: Edward Burt; and grandparents: Buford H. and Teeta Burt of Burt Brothers Furniture in Columbia. John leaves to cherish his memory his mother: Jeraldyne Reed of Franklin, TN; sister: Sherri Darnell of Franklin, TN; brothers: Brent H. Burt of Centerville, TN and Eddie Burt of Gallatin, TN; his wife: Denise Burt; step-daughter: Julia Rill; step-grandson: Brandon Fawn, all of Columbia; nephews: Sean and Chandler Darnell of Spring Hill, TN; Brian Burt of Florence, AL; and dear friend: Donna Kimbrow, and her son: Jon Jon Pruitt of Shreveport, LA. The pallbearers who blessed him throughout his life will be: Richard Blackburn, Scotty Stockard, Michael Tingle, Kevin Barnes, Steve Bearden, and Walter Mears. Visitation will be Monday, November 25, 2013 from 3:00 -7:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home and again on Tuesday from 2:00 -4:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Tuesday.
