Mr. Charles Collins, age 67, husband of Betty Collins and a resident of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee passed away suddenly at Maury Regional Medical Center on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Funeral Services for Mr. Collins will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. William Owens officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and assisting the family. A native of Maury County, Mr. Collins was the son of the late James E. Collins and the late Ruby Louise Pierce. He had retired from the Maury County Highway Department and was enjoying being able to spend more time with his family, which was his primary focus in life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and thoroughly relished playing with his grandchildren and his great-grandchild. His outgoing personality and loving ways will truly be missed by all of his family and friends. In addition to his devoted wife, he left behind to cherish his memory his children: Charles (Melissa) Collins of Centerville, TN and Diane (Phil) Poteete of College Grove, TN; his sister Wanda (Bill) Stewart of Mt. Pleasant, TN; his grandchildren: Melissa Johnson, Mary Collins and Josh Collins and his great grandchild, Curtis Beard. Pallbearers will include: Bill Ferguson, Dwayne Bolton, Jimmy Gilliam, Phil Poteete, Donald Collins, and Tandy Beard. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Harry Turner Bolton, Dr. Robert Bain, Gene Brown, and the employees of the Maury County Highway Department. Donations may be made to the Charles Collins Memorial Fund at Heritage Funeral Home.
