Linda Howell Hines age 52, a wonderful wife to Ed Hines, daughter, sister, aunt, and a good friend to all who knew her; passed away suddenly on New Year's Eve at her home in the Culleoka community of Maury County. A Memorial Service for Linda will be Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 " 6:00 PM on Tuesday before the service. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and is in charge of the arrangements. Linda was born in Poughkeepsie, New York and grew up in Boca Raton, Florida where she met her not so soon to be husband, Ed. They dated, on and off for 20 years and on May 25, 1994 they were wed. Their invitations read in part; This day I will marry my best friend, the one I laugh with, live with, dream with, and love with . No truer words were ever said. Linda worked for the Palm Beach County School Board as the Director of Planning and Real Estate. Linda moved to Culleoka with her husband Ed after his retirement in 2006. They had come to Columbia looking for a small piece of property to build a retirement home. Their aunt, Vera Russell, who is also a Realtor, showed them a small farm in Culleoka and it was love at first sight. They were living a dream. They built their retirement home and became a part of the Culleoka, Mynders, and Maury County communities. Linda took to the country life like a fish to water. She grew a garden and canned vegetables which she shared with everyone, even those who didnt bring her jars back. She became an avid quail hunter to such an extent that the other hunters limited the number of shells she could have. Linda was never one to sit idle and always felt that her calling was to work for and give back to the community. She joined and was very active in many organizations; she was on the board of Kiwanis, CASA of Maury County, The Snow Foundation in Boca Raton, FL, the Friends of the NRA, and was always the first to volunteer to help those in need. Every time Steve Konz or Billy Sims showed up with a handful of tickets, she was the first to buy them. She must have eaten a hundred of Steves tootsie rolls. Linda always had a kind word for everyone and was great at giving out hugs and praise. She had a wonderful smile and a loving way toward all. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and the many people that she helped, but never knew her name. There is no better way to pay tribute to Lindas memory, than to follow in her footsteps, follow her example, give to those less fortunate, support those in need of support, give a reassuring hug when needed, and above all; live life to the fullest and thank God for his many blessings. In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by her Mother, Audrey Morse Howell of Columbia, TN. a brother, Mark (Diana) Howell of Alpharetta, GA; a brother in-law and sister in-law, Rick and Debbie Hines of Boynton Beach, FL, aunts; Vera Russell of Columbia, TN and Ann Black of Macon, GA, nieces and nephews; Sarah Howell, Ryan Howell, both of Alpharetta, GA, Lee Hines, Mei Hines, and Julie Hines of Boynton Beach, FL; along with several great nieces and nephews of Boynton Beach, FL. Those that knew her understand that she leaves behind her beloved companions; Snickers, Sadie, and Skittles. She was preceded in death by her Father, Robert Sherman Howell. Honorary Pallbearers are; Friends of the NRA, Columbia Kiwanis Club, Board and Volunteer Workers of CASA, and members of the Mynders Community Club. The family request that memorials be made to CASA of Maury County, 22 Public Square, Suite #2, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.heritage-fhcs.com
