Ms. Carmen M. Jones, age 81, a current resident of Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011. The family will visit with friends at the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee is assisting the family. A native of Lewis County, Ms. Jones was a 1947 graduate of Hay Long High School, and a graduated of Columbia Business College, and Cosmetology School. She was employed by Equitable Insurance Company in Nashville where she made her home in until her retirement to Port Charlotte, FL. In 2010, Ms. Jones returned to Tennessee and resided in Columbia. Her family stated; she was a very outgoing and independent lady, she helped everyone and made many lifelong friends Ms. Jones loved to garden, golf, and fish. The loved ones left behind are; three sisters, Elaine (Joe) Chirtel of Osprey, FL, Zula McClain of Mt. Joy, and Pat LeDoux of Woodbury, TN; two brothers, Jimmy (Marie) McClain and Tidlem McClain both of Mt. Joy. She also leaves behind, eight nieces and two nephews several great nieces and nephews along with a great, great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; Felix Martin McClain and Minnie Johnson McClain, two brothers, Malcom McClain and Mack McClain and a sister-in-law, Doris Jones Paysinger. The family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
