The family of Mrs. Williams will hold a private time of celebration and remembrance of her life in Nashville at a later date. A native of Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late Roy Armstrong and the late Erma Moline Armstrong. She was of the Catholic Faith. Following her passion and love of learning, Mrs. Williams received her Nursing Degree from the University of Washington State in Seattle, Washington. She then continued on with her education to the University of Kentucky where she received her Masters Degree. She retired from Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee where she worked as the Chief Nursing Officer. Mrs. Williams loving and caring personality is what led her into the field of nursing which began in the Operating Room and continued on into the field of Administration. She always loved people and had a deep desire to assist in whatever was going on, her husband recalled. She told me of one Christmas when she was a little girl how she got the funnies out of the newspaper and wrapped up boxes to place around the Christmas tree because she just wanted to help out and get involved in whatever was happening, he continued with tears in his eyes. She would climb a tree and help me cut down limbs or anything that was needed. This was the type of woman she was. Mrs. Williams held many interests which included gardening and knitting, but where you could always find her heart was with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, CNOR, University of Kentucky Alumni, and Washington Alumni. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Williams left behind to cherish her memory five children: two daughters Shannon A. Leva of Versailles, KY and Michelle (Stephen) Finch of Lexington, KY; three sons: Travis A. Leva of Columbia, TN, Alan S. (Rachel) Williams, Jr. of Coker Creek, TN, and Kerry Ray Williams of Winchester, KY; Grandchildren: Asher, Baron, Macey , and Felice Finch all of Lexington, KY and Nathan and Eric Williams of Coker Creek, TN; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and co-workers.
