Mrs. Jewell Wentzel, age 76, wife of Arthur Wentzel, formerly a long time resident of Sowell Mill Pike of Columbia, and presently a resident of Maplewood Drive in Cornersville, TN, passed away at her home early Sunday morning with her family by her side. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Richard VanCleave, Dwain Brown, and Gilly Andrews officiating. Interment will follow at the Rock Springs Cemetery in Columbia. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral home is assisting the family. A native of Maury County and the daughter of the late Herman Gilliam, and the late Pearl Johnson; she was a graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Wentzel dedicated her life to her husband, children, family, and the profession of Homemaker . She was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church for over 60 years, taught Sunday school for many of those years, and served for several years as a nursery attendant. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wentzel is survived by two sons; Dennis (Terry) Wentzel, and Darell (Kim) Wentzel both of Cornersville, TN., one brother, Steve (Connie) Gilliam of Columbia, TN, seven grandchildren; Christy (Clay) McKinney, Missy (Corry) Miller, Jeremy (Shannon) Wentzel, Justin (Mandy) Wentzel, Summer (Benton) Cheatham, Mackenzie Wentzel, and Jenna Wentzel; along with 15 great grand-children. She was preceded in death by her son Danny Wentzel and one brother, John Gilliam. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Wentzel, Justin Wentzel, Benton Cheatham, Mackenzie Wentzel, Corry Miller, and Doug Kelley. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Rock Springs Baptist Church.
