Florence Johnson Widick

Florence Johnson Widick, 93, a long-time resident of Bear Lake, Michigan, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Life Care Center of Columbia, Tennessee. Memorial services for Mrs. Widick will be held at a later date in her home town of Bear Lake, Michigan with inurnment at Pleasanton Township Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home of Columbia, Tennessee is assisting the family with arrangements. Mrs. Widick was born on August 8, 1916, in LaGrange, Illinois to Frank and Pearl Mayrand Johnson. In 1933, she graduated from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Illinois. She was married to Thomas C. Widick, who preceded her in death in 1971. Mrs. Widick was formerly affiliated with State Farm Insurance Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Earlier, she worked for Electramotive in LaGrange, Illinois. She was as a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Onekoma, Michigan. Mrs. Widick was a long-time member of the West Shore Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to being a homemaker, she enjoyed playing bridge and working crossword puzzles. She enjoyed sitting on her bench looking across Bear Lake. Mrs. Widick was very special to her family, and was loved by all who made her acquaintance. She is survived by her sons, Timothy Johnson (Joanne) Widick, Traverse City, MI and William T. (Fiance Claudia) Widick, Columbia,TN; a granddaughter, Jenny Crouch, Traverse City, MI; a grandson, Miles T. Moran , Birmingham, MI; nephew, Bob (Carol) Johnson, Western Springs, IL. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie Ann Widick, in 1970. Memorials may be sent to West Shore Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxilary, 1465 Parkdale Ave., Manistee, MI, 49660.
