Nancy M. Rice

Ms. Nancy Marie Newman Rice, 62, former manager of Shoneys and Captain Ds and a resident of Riverside Drive, died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral Services for Ms. Rice will be conducted Sunday, October 7, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Parkway Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery at Culleoka. The family will visit with friends Friday and Saturday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. The Henry County, Kentucky native was the daughter of the late Lee and Virginia Thurman Newman. She was active in VFW and Herbert Griffin American Legion Auxiliary, and of the Baptist faith. She is survived by two daughters, Carla Marie (Larry) Perhealth of North Carolina; Lisa Carol (fiance, Wayne Moore) Varnado; two sons, Evan Dean (Pam) Watkins of Columbia; Grover Alvin Watkins, Jr. of Kentucky; son-in-law, Brian Grayson Varnado; fifteen grandchildren, Jeremie Watkins of Columbia; Timothy (Alexia Adams) Watkins of Columbia; Michael (Kayla Stewart) Watkins of Columbia; William (Jamie Rodgers) Harmon of Columbia; Dunstan Dugger of Columbia; Wesley Dugger of Columbia; T. C. (Lisa) Watkins of West Virginia; Christy Whortenbury of Kentucky; April Watkins of North Carolina; Anthony Perhealth of North Carolina; Marina Perhealth of North Carolina; Jason Parks of Kentucky; Christopher Watkins of Kentucky; Kristin Watkins of Kentucky; Christopher Dugger of Columbia; seven great grandchildren, Jamie King of Kentucky; Cameron Whortenbury of Kentucky; Trinity Whortenbury of Kentucky; Nicholas Watkins of West Virginia; Trenton Watkins of Columbia; Blake Adams of Columbia; Allie Nicole Parks of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Lee Roberts. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeremie Watkins, Timothy Watkins, Michael Watkins, William Harmon, Christopher Dugger, Dunstan Dugger, and Wesley Dugger. Honorary pallbearers will be Maury Regional Hospital and staff including 3rd West Nursing Unit, Dr. Kelly Williams and staff, Maury Regional Home Health and Infusion Services, Dr. Robert McClure and staff, Caris Healthcare, and the Oncology Nursing Staff at Maury Regional Hospital.
