Master Sgt. William Mark Wylie, 63, a resident of Academy Heights Drive in Columbia, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Full military honors will be conducted by the 5th Special Forces Honor Guard from Ft. Campbell, Kentucky on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 11:30 at the Lighthouse Church of Jesus Christ, 2000 Williamsport Pike in Columbia. Family and friends will gather Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home for procession to the church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wylie was born in Little Big Horn, Montana, and a native of Maury County. He is the son of Della Marie Schrader Harrington of Columbia, and Edna Parrish of Florence, Alabama, and the late William Thomas Wylie. He was formerly married to Carolyn Sue Hughes Wylie. He was retired from Special Forces with the United States Army, and served our country during the Vietnam War. Mr. Wylie was a former Columbia City Police Officer, jailer for the Maury County Sheriffs Department and a truck driver. He enjoyed motorcycles and race cars, and was a beloved father and grandfather to his family. He was a member of Lighthouse Church of Jesus Christ. In addition to his mother, his is survived by a son, William Thomas Tom (Donna) Wylie of Columbia; two granddaughters, Sammy Jo (Ryan Allen) Buchner and Sara Ellen Chapman, both of Columbia; a grandson, Mitchel Wayne (Kristina) Wylie of Columbia, TN; three great grandsons, Ethan Thomas Buchner, Jacob Taylor Buchner, and William Paul Chapman, all of Columbia; a brother-in-law; Bobby Thompson of Columbia; two nieces, Lisa Betzel and Rebecca Thompson both of Columbia; three nephews, Rickey (Pam) Thompson, Terry (Denise) Thompson, and Chris Bradford, all of Columbia.
