Mr. Joe M. Jett, Sr., 82, a resident of Whitesell Road in the Mooresville Community, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Jett will be conducted Monday, June 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. Barry Farris and Waymon Love officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery at Culleoka. The family will visit with friends Sunday, June 28, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 609 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia, Tennessee. A native of Williamson County, he was the son of the late J.C. Jodie Jett and Janie Smith Jett. He was married for 63 years to Betty Underwood Jett. Mr. Jett was retired from the maintenance department of Columbia Academy and was a farmer. He was a former employee of Bordens in Lewisburg and A & P Grocery in Columbia. He enjoyed traveling, yard work, being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Mooresville Church of Christ, where he served for 50 years as a Deacon and proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters, Janice (Michael) Beckman of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Jennifer (Tommy) Dale of Columbia, and Belinda (Jeff) Huitt of the Mooresville Community; sons, Joe M. (Paula) Jett, Jr. of the Mooresville Community and Steve (Cindy) Jett of the Mooresville Community; sister, Beatrice Rowe of Florence, Alabama; brother, Clayton (Myrna) Jett of Columbia; grandchildren, David White, Robin White, Adrienne Dale, Drew Huitt, Zack Huitt, Megan Huitt, Joe M. Trey Jett, III, and Jacob Jett; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Jett. Pallbearers will be Michael Beckman, Tommy Dale, Jeff Huitt, Trey Jett, Jacob Jett, Drew Huitt, Zack Huitt, and Jerry Knox.
