Mrs. Shirley Mai Hosford Ellis, 63, a resident of Bradshaw Drive in Columbia,died Friday, July 2, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at Parkway Baptist Church, located at the corner of Tom J. Hitch Parkway and Mapleash Avenue, with Pastor Mike Roberts officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family. Born in Williamson County, she is the daughter of John Henry Hosford of Chapel Hill and Christine Tomlin Hosford of South Carolina, who survive. She and Loren Ellis, who survives, have been married for 41 wonderful years. Mrs. Ellis was a homemaker, and had a passion for growing orchids. She collected teddy bears, and had a huge variety of them. Mrs. Ellis loved her two miniature poodles, Mr. Murphy and Sneakers. She was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a daughter, Tina (David) Christian of Tyler, TX; a step-daughter, Karen (Gary) Church of Lompoc, CA; two step-sons, Keith (Diana) Ellis of Lompoc, CA, and Kenneth (Leslie) Ellis of Eugene, OR; two grandchildren, Beaux and Lauren Christian of Tyler, TX; seven step-grandchildren, and ten step-great grandchildren; and two half-sisters, Paulette and Paula. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Hosford, Jr. Memorials may be made to the Parkway Baptist Church, P. O. Box 865, Columbia, TN 38401.
