Mr. George Lynn Anderson, age 82, husband of the late Wyona Anderson, and a resident of Tom LittleJohn Road in Columbia passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral arrangements will be conducted on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Interment will follow at the Godwin-Chappell United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home and again before the service at 11:00 AM on Thursday. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge and assisting the family with the arrangements. Mr. Anderson is a native of Maury County from the Mt. Joy area and the son of the late Moncy Anderson (Father) and the late Mary Thelma (Stockard) Anderson (Mother). He retired as a mechanic from Damron & Sons. After he retired, he was a truck driver for Robbie D. Wood trucking company. On December 29, 1956 he married his sweetheart, Wyona Riley and they were married for over 50 years before her passing in July, 2008. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. Mr. Anderson loved cars, go-carts, motor bikes, and Braves baseball. He was a member of the Godwin-Chappell United Methodist Church in the Godwin Community. He had a great love for his boys, his grandkids, and his great-grandkids. Survivors include his sons, Terry Lynn (Carolee) Anderson, Douglas Wayne (Robyn) Anderson, Roy Edward Anderson, William Mark (Leigh) Anderson all of Columbia. Twin brother; Richard Glynn (Elise) Anderson and one other brother, Billy Ward (Patricia) Anderson both of Columbia. Two sisters; Margaret Rochelle and Robbye Nell Anderson both of Columbia. Eight grandkids; Jason Lynn (Candice) Anderson, Misty Lee Anderson, William Walter Anderson, Lyndsey Curtis, Bryan Walter Anderson, Dustin Edward Anderson, Kayla Marie Anderson, and Nathan Mark Anderson. Two great-grandkids; Marcus Tre'von and Wyatt Lynn Anderson, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife; he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Jo Kerr. Pallbearers will be Jason Anderson, Walter Anderson, Nathan Anderson, Brian Walter Anderson, Dustin Anderson, Mike Anderson, Eddie Kerr, and Jimmy Rochelle. Honorary Pallbearers will be former employees of Damron & Sons Construction Company & Mealer Trucking of Lewisburg.
