Barry Eugene Sims

September 27, 1949 - January 29, 2012

Mr. Barry E. Sims, age 62, husband of Patsy Sims and a resident of Cross Bridges Road in Columbia, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at his residence. A Funeral Service for Mr. Sims will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Edd Luna officiating. Interment will follow in the Shires Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and then again on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements. A native of Maury County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Ulna Sims and the late Louise (Shires) Sims-McCall. He worked as a truck driver for Bentley's Trucking and was a member of the Cool Springs Missionary Baptist Church. This family man enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to work. He always wanted to take a trip to Alaska driving his truck and taking his family along with him. He enjoyed time with family and friends playing games such as Dominos and cards. His grandchildren had a very special place in his heart. Although he faced many difficulties in life, his positive outlook and love for life was evident in all that he did. He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him. In addition to his loving wife of 34 years, he left behind to cherish his memory his son, Barry Sims, Jr. of Hickman Co, TN; his step sons: Travis Counts and Troy (Stacy) Counts both of Columbia, TN; two sisters: Brenda Warf of Culleoka, TN and Diane (Taylor) Hamilton of Mt. Pleasant, TN; a brother, two grandchildren and seven step grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and a brother, Ricky Sims. Pallbearers will include: Wayne White, Dillon Baker, Travis Counts, Troy Counts, Timmy Hardison, Taylor Hamilton, Elliott Harris, Andrew Hardison and Steven Hardison.
