Mrs. Verna Mae Johnson Brown, 84, widow of Howard Brown and a resident of Morris Avenue in Columbia, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Life Care Center. Funeral Services for Mrs. Brown will be conducted Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with Curtis Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday, January 2, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, in its new location at 609 Bear Creek Pike. A native of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Beulah Cammuse Johnson. Mrs. Brown spent her life working as a housewife. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Jimmy) Shouse of Columbia, TN, Patsy Potts of Summertown, TN, and Sandra (Danny) Clark of Williamsport,TN; sons, Larry (Dian) Brown of Ethridge, TN and Darrell (Brenda) Brown of Columbia, TN; a sister, Winnie Russell of Columbia, TN; brothers, J.H. Johnson of Williamsport,TN and Too Too (Glenna) Johnson of Spring Hill, TN; 4 granddaughters, Angie (Eddie) Morton, Jennifer (Timmy) Massey, Amy (Allen) Nicholson, Kelly Clark; 9 grandsons who will serve as pallbearers and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Kayla Brown. Pallbearers will be Mike Shouse, Mark Shouse, Greg Shouse, Kevin Clark, Roger Brown, Kenny Brown, Matthew Brown, Kyle Brown and Tim Potts. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff and caretakers at Life Care Center. Memorials may be made to the Highland Church of Christ Building Fund, 497 East James M. Campbell Boulevard, Columbia, Tennessee 38401. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.heritage-fhcs.com.
