Teresa D. Gilliam Gestring

July 29, 1959 - June 15, 2009

Ms. Teresa D. Terri Gilliam Gestring, 49, a Registered Nurse Orthopedic Physician Extender for The Bone and Joint Clinic in Franklin,and Williamson Medical Center, and a resident of Hayes Denton Road in Columbia, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A Memorial Service for Ms. Gestring will be held Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Columbia with Rev. Jim Hughes officiating. The family will visit with friends, Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A native of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Dale Gilliam and Ruth Browning Gilliam Brewer. She was a 1977 graduate of Summertown High School. She attended Columbia State Community College, and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Memphis State University. Ms. Gestring was a member of the Columbia Cycling Club and enjoyed hiking and white water rafting. She was always very active in her childrens activities. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany (Robert) Shearer of Columbia; son, Tyler Gestring of Columbia; sister, Judy Shaw of Summertown; brother, Donnie (Gwen) Gilliam; step-sister, Gina (Tommy) Parks of Williamsport; step-brother, Jerry (Billie Jean) Brewer of Summertown; several nieces & nephews. A special thank you to her close friends who have given unselfishly of their time to attend to her needs, and for the many acts of kindness extended on her behalf by so many others.
