Mr. Johnny Paul Erwin, 50, died Saturday, November 1, 2008, at his residence on Erwin Road in the Bigbyville Community. Funeral Services for Mr. Erwin will be conducted Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bigbyville United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Brown and Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Churchyard. The family will visit with friends Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Bigbyville United Methodist Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A native of Maury County, he was the son of Vivian Ralston Erwin and the late Floyd Erwin. He was the former owner of the By-Pass Deli, and a former employee of GE/Fedders where he was an electrician. He was a member of the Bigbyville United Methodist Church. Johnny loved to tell jokes, fish, and sing George Jones songs. He was an avid UT fan and always wearing his Tennessee hat and anything orange and white. Johnny most recently was affiliated with the Brotherhood Electrical Workers Local #429. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Adam Erwin of Columbia; a daughter, Abigail Boren of Crown Point, IN; sister, Mary (Tim) Shannon of Columbia; brothers, Thomas (Marie) Erwin of Linden, Danny (Dana) Erwin of Crossville, Carlos Erwin of Columbia; sister-in-law, Susan Erwin of the Southport Community; several nieces and nephews; Matt Erwin, Jeff (Amy) Carroll, Mark (Lisa) Erwin, Emily Erwin, Rebecca Erwin, Justin Erwin, John Erwin, Angie (Chris Shaw) Erwin, Joanna (Rick) McDonald, Alexander Erwin, Ashley Shannon, Amy Shannon; three great nieces and three great nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Erwin and a niece, Bethany Erwin. Active Pallbearers will be Matt Erwin, Alexander Erwin, John Erwin, Justin Erwin, Rick McDonald, Chris Shaw, and Jeff Carroll. Honorary Pallbearers will be former employees of GE/Fedders, By-Pass Deli, CHS class of 1976, Kenny Hanvy, Glenn Brewer, Clyde Harris, Benny Bolton, Buddy Harris, Mike Yeager, Gary Swindle, John Gilbreath, Rex Pogue, Wayne Stacey, and Luis Sweeney.
