Mrs. Ruby Kirkland, age 71, wife of Norman Kirkland, a resident of Columbia, passed away after an extended illness, on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A memorial service for Mrs. Kirkland will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 7PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Richard Bowdoin officiating. Visitation with the family will also be held on Thursday from 4 until the service hour at 7. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born in Washington County, Virginia on April 27, 1942, Ruby was the daughter of the late Estel and Delpha Guinn Price. She was a former resident of Piney Flats, TN. Her hobbies included caring for her farm animals and watching wild life. Ruby was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord and is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In addition to her husband, Norman, of 21 years, she is survived by her son: Allen (Tracy) Fagan of Columbia; two grandsons: Chance and Aaron Fagan of Columbia; and her two special babies: Pooh Bear and Max. She is also survived by six sisters: Gladys (Robert) Symonds, Blanche Cross, Betty (Earl) Hale, Wanda (Charles) Chambers, Sandra Sinard all of Piney Flats, TN; and Judy Carver of Blountville, TN; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, and uncles, too numerous to list, but Ruby held them all very dear to her heart. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother RK Price. In lieu of flowers, live plants have been requested or a donation in her name to the American Cancer Society: 2008 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN.
