Robert W. Rising Jr.

August 25, 1947 - June 30, 2011

Mr. Robert W. Rising Jr., age 63, husband of Judy Rising and a resident of Lookout Drive in Columbia, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia. Funeral Services for Mr. Rising will be held on Sunday, July 03, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Crosby officiating. The family will visit with friends following the funeral service until 4:30 pm at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements. A native of Lockport, New York, he proudly served our country from 1966 until 1970 with the United States Navy. It was his dream to work with General Motors and he and his family moved to Tennessee when he was afforded the opportunity of working with General Motors at the Saturn Plant in Spring Hill. Following his retirement with General Motors, he worked security at Nashville Super Speedway. This was a joy for him as he had always had a passion for cars and racing. Although he had varying interests, it was evident that there was one thing that brought him joy above all other passions in his life and that was his grandchildren. They truly were his pride and joy. This loving husband, father, and grandfather will truly be missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Mr. Rising left behind to cherish his memory two sons: Robert W. Rising, III of Orlando, FL and Troy L. (Vanessa) Rising of CA; and two grandchildren: Robert W. Rising IV and Nicholas B. Rising. He also leaves a cherished sister-in-law, Sandra Fletcher of NY; a brother-in-aw, David Plumb of AL; a niece, nephew, and four great nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Robert W. Rising, Sr. Honorary Pallbearers will be the employees of Nashville Super Speedway. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203-2003.
