John Short

John Andrew Short, age 61, and a resident of Oakwood Drive in Tullahoma, TN passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at NHC-Lewisburg. The family will celebrate Johns life with private services at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and is in charge of the arrangements. John was born on December 29, 1950 in Tullahoma, TN and was raised in Normandy. He was the son of Opal Boyd Payne and the late James Mitchell Short. He previously worked as a truck driver for 27 years as well as a farmer. He was a hard worker with a strong work ethic who was able to handle any situation and truly had a passion for life. He had a special place in his heart for his daughter, Jennifer, who he referred to as Dumpling, and when she got older, shortened it to Dump. He loved to fish and also enjoyed westerns. Survivors in addition to his mother are his step-father, Glennis Payne of Tullahoma; daughter, Jennifer Short of Shelbyville; brother, Boyd Wayne Short of Tullahoma; and his loyal companion, dog: Buey. In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Maxwell; grandfather, Earnest Boyd; and niece, Stephanie Short.
