Shirley Joanne Kiest

September 3, 1934 - June 24, 2012

Shirley Joanne Kiest, age 77, wife of Larry Kiest, and a resident of Charlotte, TN, passed away Sunday morning, June 24, 2012 at her residence. The family will conduct memorial services at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home of Franklin is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements. Shirley was born Sept 3, 1934 in Leverette, IL and was one of four children of George Peters and Marie Rutledge Peters. She was retired as the Head Cook for the Champagne/Urbana (IL) School Systems. Following retirement, she and her husband relocated to Tennessee in the early 1980's. In her free time, Shirley loved visiting a flea market or good yard sale. It allowed her the opportunity to be out around people and seeing new sights. Her greatest joy came in having the opportunity to help other people. She loved going out to eat with friends and family whenever possible. Her gift of selflessness will be remembered and missed by those who loved her. Honor her legacy, Shirley is survived by her husband: Larry Kiest of Charlotte, TN; and four daughters: Brenda Marie McCallister of Dickson, TN, Linda Martin of McEwen, TN, Glenda Hodges of Charlotte, TN, and Kimberly Spann of Dickson, TN. Additionally, she is survived by 16 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.
