Bobby Gene Pop Thompson, 75, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at his residence on Elaine Drive.

Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be conducted Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Georgina Bearden officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will receive guests on Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 4:00--8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Wayne County, Tennessee, Mr. Thompson was the son of the late Noah Thompson and Icie Pearl Hardin Thompson. He was married to the late Kathern Wylie Thompson. Mr. Thompson was retired from the City of Columbia Wastewater Dept., where he served a Superintendant. Mr. Thompson proudly served his Country in the Army. He was a member of the House of Prayer Baptist Church. Mr. Thompson immensely enjoyed wood-working, and his philosophy was anything that he could not fix was broke . Mr. Thompson enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

Mr. Thompson is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Thompson and Lisa (Betzel) Patrick; two sons, Ricky (Pam) Thompson and Terry (Denise) Thompson; grand children, Chase (Mandy) Patrick, Ashley Patrick, T.J. Thompson and fianc Kalee Fitzgerald, Emily Thompson, Shelly Morton, Perry (Connie) Winters, and Brian Winters; great-grandchildren, Andrew Frailey, Cameron Westmoreland, Shelby Winters, Brittany Winters; five sisters, Nadine Watson, Christine Owens, Vada (Ron) Richardson, Zada (Gene) Tomlin, and Irene Landtroope; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Edward Thompson and James Leonard Thompson; a sister, Lois Adams; a grandson, Brent Allen Thompson.

Active Pallbearers will be Chase Patrick, T. J. Thompson, Perry Winters, Brian Winters, Timmy Owens, and Bo Davis.

Honorary Guests will include Dr. John Freel and Staff, Dr. Shawn Gentry and Staff, Caris Healthcare, and the City of Columbia Wastewater employees.
