Louise Mootz, age 75 of Columbia, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at The Garden, Poplar Estates. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 1, 2012 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. A memorial service for Mrs. Mootz will be held at a later date in Iowa. Heritage Funeral Home - Columbia is assisting the family with arrangements. Born in Dubuque, Iowa, she was the daughter of Howard and Emily Foust Herron. She was a farm wife for forty years before being one of the first recipients of Willie Nelson's Farm Aid Scholarships. She attended Clarke College in Dubuque, graduating with honors, and received her Masters in Peace and Justice from Sagamon State University in Springfield, IL. Louise was featured in the book, "Raising More Corn and Less Hell". She was fluent in Spanish and loved traveling the world. As a member of the Council of Catholic Women (ACCW) through the Dubuque Diocese, she taught religion classes and worked with the Rural Outreach Program. She and Mr. Gene Wuchter hosted 27 foreign exchange students from all over the world. Louise was preceded in death by husbands, Eugene Wuchter and George Mootz, son, Quinten Wuchter, and her parents. She is survived by her daughters Marilyn (Fidel) Pinote and Mary Ann (James) Townsend of Columbia, TN; sons, Eugene (Melanie) Wuchter and Ed (Candy) Wuchter of Colorado; Eric "Ric" Wuchter and Everette "Jake" (Val) Wuchter of Delhi, Iowa; one brother, Mark (Karen) Herron of Iowa; two sisters: Katie (David) Lincoln of Iowa, Ann (Frank) McMahon of Branson, MO; nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, special friends of The Garden at Poplar Estates, and new friends affiliated with Hospice Compassus. Louise is also survived by George Mootz's family. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4205 Hillsboro Pike, Suite 216 in Nashville, TN 37215.
