Mr. Mark S. Stanley, age 52, husband of Roberta Potts Stanley, of Rock Springs Cemetery Road in Columbia, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Funeral services for Mr. Stanley will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Deacon Thales Finchum officiating. Interment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Monday, September 13, from 4 to 9 pm at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home will be assisting the family and is in charge of arrangements. A native of Martins Ferry, Ohio, he was the son of Clarice Eller and the late John H. Stanley. Mr. Stanleys main occupation was a Construction Engineer for Baker Concrete in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a member of St. Catherines Catholic Church. He graduated from St. Johns Central High School in Bellaire, Ohio and he earned his Bachelors Degree from Akron University in Akron, Ohio. Among his many interests in life, Mark was a Sports Car and Civil War enthusiast. He loved pro football and was particularly proud of his favorite team, the Pittsburg Steelers. Mark was a true family man and was devoted to his wife and family and was a special uncle as well. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Stanley left behind to cherish his memory two brothers: Robert Stanley of Los Gatos, CA, and Larry (Jackie) Stanley of Buffalo Grove, IL; one sister-in-law Joy (John) Stanfill of Primm Springs, TN; one brother-in-law Donald (Barbara) Potts of Primm Springs, TN; six nieces: Lauren, Bridget and Jill Stanley all of Buffalo Grove, IL, Andrea Potts of Columbia, TN; Robin (Allen) Johnson of McMinnville, TN, and Jade Potts of Culleoka, TN; two nephews: Stacy Potts and Tracy Potts both of Primm Springs, TN; mother-in-law, Betty Potts of Primm Springs, TN; two great nieces, Kaylyn Guzman and JayLyn Johnson both of McMinnville, TN; and one great nephew, Holden Potts of Primm Springs, TN. Active Pallbearers will include: Miles Holden Potts, Joseph Mendes, Larry Stanley, Bob Stanley, Guy Ford, Mark Jett, Kenneth Jett, and Jeff Schriver. Honorary guests will be Dan Baker, all of the employees of Baker Concrete Construction, Inc., Donald Potts, Tracy Potts, Dianne Jernigan, Kevin Rosewell, Keith Schemp, and Beverly Calvert. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Avenue, Suite # 202, Wilmette, IL 60091-1064.
