Mr. Billie Cordell Cope, age 84, husband of Margaret Cope, and a resident of Williamsport Pike in Columbia, TN passed away Saturday morning, June 23, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Thornburg officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 4-7 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the Hunter Room of Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements. A native of White County, Tennessee, Billie retired as a job planner from Monsanto where he worked for thirty years, and he was also a member Columbias Church of God of Prophecy. He loved God, his wife, and his family. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Timothy Tim C. (Shelia) Cope of Nashville, TN; daughter, Billie (Arnold) Hammond of Columbia, TN, and sister, Betty Sue Williams of Benton Harbor, MI. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Tiffany (P.J.) McDaniel of Lewisburg, TN; Joshua (Jennifer) Hammond of Spring Hill, TN; Blake Hammond of Nashville, TN; eight great-grandchildren: Jamie McDaniel, Jake McDaniel, Maggie McDaniel, Alex McDaniel all of Lewisburg, TN, Kinsley Johnson, Maddex Hammond, Mali Hammond, Anna Claire Hammond all of Spring Hill, TN and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Taylor Snodgrass Cope and Virgie Blackwell Cope Kent; brother, Harold Cope; sister, Ruby Lee Foster; and niece Karen Foster. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. James Richardson, Dr. C.A. Ball, Gerald Martin, Morris Givens, and former employees of Monsanto.
