Raymond Alexander Jones

Mr. Raymond Alexander Jones,78, formerly of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at his residence on Scribners Mill Road in the Culleoka Community. A memorial service for Mr. Jones will be conducted Friday, April 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.at the West Side Baptist Church in Greers Ferry, Arkansas with Reverend Van Harness officiating. Inurnment will be in the McLehaney Higdon Cemetery in Higdon, Arkansas with military honors being provided by the American Legion. The family will visit with friends following the graveside at the church. Heber Springs Funeral Home will be in charge of the memorial service. Heritage Funeral Home of Columbia, Tennessee is in charge of local arrangements. The Kress, Texas native was the son of the late Leland Jewell Jones and Flora Mae Brooking Jones. He was the husband of 58 years to Betty Joyce Logan Jones of the Culleoka Community. He was a retired letter carrier with the United States Postal Service out of North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was a member of the West Side Baptist Church in Greers Ferry, Arkansas and proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed gardening, fishing, and building bird houses. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Ramona (David) Caldwell of Quitman, AR and Joy (John) Thompson of Heber Springs, AR; a son, Ben (Denisa) Jones of the Culleoka Community; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
