Mrs. Kathryn Hobbs Oberste, 90, died Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services for Mrs. Oberste will be conducted Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Church of Christ with Frank McMeen, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Mars Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday, November 17, 2008, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. A native of Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Morgan and Ruth Davis Hobbs. As a young girl, she lived in Lewisburg. Mrs. Oberste spent most of her life in North Little Rock, Arkansas, before moving to Columbia in 2000. She was married to the late Louis Oberste who was the first television newsman in the state of Arkansas, and highly recognized in his profession. She retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Arkansas, and owned and operated The Doll House in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mrs. Oberste was a member of Windsong Church of Christ in North Little Rock. Mrs. Oberste is survived by a sister, Articeil Staggs of Columbia, formerly of Donelson, TN; a niece, Ava Nell (Frank) McMeen of the Cross Bridges Community; great-nephews, Frank McMeen, Jr of Jackson, TN and Mike (Jacqueline) McMeen of Murfreesboro, TN; great- nieces, Robin (Allen) Cohen of Cleveland, TN and Leslie (Randy) Dickerson of Murfreesboro, TN; brother-in-law, Ken Oberste of Little Rock, AR; sister-in-law, Rosemary Bergeron of Moore, SC; several great-great nieces and nephews; and several great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Oxylene Hobbs Lovell, a nephew, Travis Lovell; 3 brother-in-laws, Bill Staggs, George Oberste, and Jerry Oberste. Active Pallbearers will be Mike McMeen, John McMeen, Randy Dickerson, Brian Huckaby, other friends and family members. Special thanks to the staff of NHC/ Columbia Health Care and Dr. Gibran Naddy.
