Mrs. Opal BlaLock Sager, 91, formerly of Maury County and a resident of Athens, Alabama ,died Friday, January 5, 2007 at Limestone Health Facility. Graveside services for Mrs. Sager will be conducted Monday, January 8, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at McConnell Funeral Home in Athens. Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of local arrangements. The Columbia, Tennessee native was the daughter of the late Etheridge and Minneola Holcomb Blalock and was the widow of Robert Dan Sager. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ. She was a well-known oil painting artist and avid gardner. She is survived by two daughters, Doris Sager Tuten of Athens, AL and Catherine Sager Redmon of Tacoma, WA; two sons, Robert D. Sager, Jr. of Ft. Worth, TX and James Thomas Sager of Madison, AL; a sister, Gladys Wylie of Gulfport, MS; a brother, Richard Blalock of St. Louis, MO; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth C. Sager. Memorials may be made to The Ark, a no kill animal shelter.
