Miss Cynthia Lynn "Cindy" Baker, 40, a resident of Jones Valley Road in the Water Valley Community, died Friday, September 5, 2008 at NHC/Hillview. Funeral Services for Miss Baker will be conducted Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Parkway Baptist Church located at 1500 Tom J. Hitch Parkway with Rev. Larry McGranahan, Keith Baker, and Winfred Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Goshen Cemetery with service conducted by Pastor Dave Baker. The family will visit with friends, Monday, September 8, 2008 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Parkway Baptist Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A native of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Page and Mai Woody Baker. Cindy graduated in 1986 from Santa Fe High School as valedictorian of her class. She served as class president, was a member of the Beta Club and Future Homemakers of America. During her years in Santa Fe School, she was a member of the middle school basketball team and the high school basketball team. While attending Columbia State Community College, she was affiliated with Keith Baker Homes as an accountant. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Columbia State Community College with an A. S. Degree in Accounting; Summa Cum Laude from Middle Tennessee State University with a B. S. Degree in Accounting; and Magna Cum Laude from Middle Tennessee State University with a M.S. Degree in Accounting. After graduation, she was employed by Tennessee National Bank; a long time employee of Franklin National Bank in Franklin; and a member of the founding team of employees in the formation of Heritage Bank and Trust in Columbia. She retired as Senior Bank Accountant of Heritage Bank and Trust in March 2008. She was a member of the Goshen United Methodist Church. She is survived by two brothers, Keith (Sandy) Baker of Columbia, and Winfred (Cindy) Baker of the Water Valley Community; nieces, Angie Baker Rosson of Columbia; Brooke Baker of Columbia; nephews, Jeremy (Ashlee) Baker of Thompson Station, Will Baker of Knoxville, Robert Baker of the Water Valley Community; great-niece, Riley Ann Baker of Thompson Station, great-nephew, Chance Bennett Rosson of Columbia; aunt, Sue Baker of the Water Valley Community; uncle, Will Frank (Juanita) Woody of Santa Fe; special friends, Dennis, Dillion and Hunter Hudson of the Water Valley Community. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, R. D. and Essie Page Baker; maternal grandparents, Willis and Nannie Jones Woody; uncle, Hubert Baker; uncle and aunt, Dale and Amy Baker. Pallbearers will be Jim Robinson, Bob Murrell, Cecil Baker, J. W. Shouse, Will Frank Woody, Brian Jones, Rip Baxter, Jeff Musgrove, Kevin Barnes, Van Boshers, Tony Endsley. Honorary Pallbearers will be the 1986 graduating class of Santa Fe High School, Board of Directors and Employees of Heritage Bank and Trust, staff of the Skilled Nursing Unit at NHC Hillview, former co-workers of Franklin National Bank, members of Goshen United Methodist Church, Dr. Jeffrey Herring, Dr. Julie Hendrix, and Dr. Edward Cherney. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 4205 Hillsboro Road, Suite 200, Nashville, TN 37215 or Goshen Cemetery Fund, c/o Winfred and Cindy Baker, 4638 Bass Alderson Road, Williamsport, TN 38487. Cindy fought a long battle with diabetes since the age of 2. She touched many lives with her will and determination to carry on.
