Mr. James Roy Jimmy Capps, 67, formerly of Nashville and a resident of Valley Drive in Nunnelly, Tennessee, died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the home of his sister. Funeral services for Mr. Capps will be conducted Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends, Wednesday, December 16, 2009, from 4:00 " 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born in Davidson County, he is the son of the late Miles M. Capps, II and the late Marjorie L. Fredrick Capps. Mr. Capps spent his early childhood years in Mt. Pleasant. He served his country in the U. S. Navy and attended college for two years. Mr. Capps was employed at Middle Tennessee Mental Health in Nashville where he worked as a Psychiatric Tech, and had previously worked at Vanderbilt University for many years as Director of Printing where he did proofing of publications. He enjoyed Kentucky basketball, loved animals, especially cats, and wrote poetry. Mr. Capps was a fun-loving, jolly person who loved the Christmas season. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Nashville. Mr. Capps is survived by four sisters, April E. (Rev. J. D. ) Brooks of Mt. Pleasant; Susan Frazier of Mt. Pleasant; Vielallar A. (Steve) Anderson of Columbia; Carrie L. (Todd) Mobley of Nunnelly; two brothers, Harold S. (Linda) Capps and Miles Mayo Capps, III, both of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Miles Mayo Capps, II; mother, Marjorie L. Capps; and a brother, Carroll Brady Capps. Active pallbearers will be Todd Mobley, Chad Rummage, John Quillen, Kevin Garner, Shane Anderson, Steve Anderson, James Truett, T. J. Brown, and Jeff Brooks. Special thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus, Dr. Tommy Sexton, and Dr. Ben Gardner. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.heritage-fhcs.com.
