Lester Monroe Les Long, Sr., 62, owner of Longs Electric, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at his residence in the Bryant Station Community. Funeral Services for Mr. Long will be Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Jaco officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday, July 25, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles Raymond and Dorothy Smiley Long. He was married to Betty Faye Sherman Long. A self-employed general contractor, he owned Longs Electric, owned and operated Blue Oasis Sports Bar, and was formerly with Duck River Realty. He enjoyed fishing, boating, playing pool, hunting, NASCAR, and sports. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Lisa Bearden of Summertown and Tina Bolding of Columbia; sons, Lester M. Bubba (Joy) Long, Jr. of Hampshire, Charles Long of Louisiana, Kendall Bolding Long of the Bryant Station Community, and Bobby Reynolds of Nashville; brothers, Charles (Jane) Long, Raymond Long, and Wayne (Debbie) Long all of Louisiana, a sister, Secrets Long of Louisiana; 8 grandchildren, Brianna Bearden, Laney Bearden, Alyssa Bearden, Destiny Morales, Mattie Martin, Landon Wells, Kalem Reynolds, and Hunter Reynolds; several nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Charlie Lewis. He was preceded in death by a son, Scotty Reynolds and a brother, Greg Long. Pallbearers will be Charles Long, Charlie Lewis, Don Long, Troy Hargrove, David Morrow, Kevin Harmon, Lester Long, Jr., and Tyson Harris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Mangrum, Kyle Stinson, Kalem Reynolds, Dale Tomlin, Gary Bowers, Gary Sanders. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.heritage-fhcs.com.
