Mr. Raymond Anderson Riddle, 95, a resident of Shawnee Drive, died Friday, February 12, 2010, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services for Mr. Riddle will be conducted Monday, February 15, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. David Davidson, Bro. Curtis Dowdy, and Bro. David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends, at the funeral home, on Sunday, February 14, 2010 from 3:00 " 7:00 p.m., and on Monday, February 15, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born in Scott County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Herman D. and Ivy E. Jones Riddle. In 1934, he married Willie Mae Ring, who preceded him in death. Mr. Riddle was a retired farmer of the Catheys Creek Community. He enjoyed taking care of farm animals, assisting widows and those in need, loved serving people in a humble manner, and was proud to be of the Hampshire Community. He was a member of the Hampshire Mens Club. Mr. Riddle, Grand-daddy , loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was an Atlanta Braves fan, a gardener, and a walker at the Columbia Mall. He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ, and previously, a long-time member of the Catheys Creek Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for many years. Mr. Riddle is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Eddlemon of Madison, AL, and Cathy (George) Butterworth of Columbia; his son, Bob (Eleanor) Riddle of Franklin; 8 grandchildren, Robyn (David) Tarkington of Danville, KY; Denise (Jay) Craig of Hixson, TN; Edie (Michael) Crosby of Ringgold, GA; Debbie (Jon) Shepherd of Madison, AL; Andy (Sheralee) Riddle of Rockvale, TN; Dr. Nathan (Linlee) Butterworth of Danville, VA; Zach Butterworth and Tabatha Butterworth, both of Columbia; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Charles (Frances) Riddle of Columbia; sister-in-law, Bert Riddle of Columbia; 2 brother-in-laws, Ted (Mary Lee) Ring of Columbia, and Billy Ring of Chapel Hill; many nieces and nephews, and his favorite canine friend, Crickett. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Edith Kincaid, Gladys Hoffman, Eula Mae Riddle, and 5 brothers, R. W. Riddle, Robert Riddle, Herman Riddle, Lloyd Riddle, and Kenneth Riddle. Singers for the funeral service will be Jay Craig, Denise Craig, and Drew Craig. Active pallbearers will be Don Riddle, Jim Riddle, Roger Riddle, Randy Whitman, Larry Eddlemon, and Gary McCandless. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carolyn Curry, Rita Langford, Mary Ann Hughes, Melissa Losch, Dr. Charles Ball, members of Catheys Creek Church of Christ and Highland Church of Christ.
