Mr. Ray Miller, age 67, husband of Joan Miller and a resident of the Unionville community passed away unexpectedly at the Heritage Medical Center in Shelbyville on Sunday, July 24, 2011. Funeral Services for Mr. Miller will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Rockvale First Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Leathers officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church and then again on Wednesday from 11:00 am until the funeral hour. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements. A native of Norfolk Virginia, he was the son of the late Schullar Miller and Essie (Cason) Miller. He was employed with Montgomery Elevator for thirty-seven years where he worked as an elevator construction worker. He was a devoted member of the Rockvale First Independent Baptist Church in Rockvale, Tennessee. When you got to know Ray, you soon discovered that he was a true Christian. He lived a Christian life first and foremost. His loving wife described him as being, the best . He had many interests in life. He enjoyed traveling and he loved motorcycles. He had a passion for ice cream but it couldnt compare to his passion for his grandbabies. His very unique personality afforded him the ability to make friends everywhere he went and everyone loved to be around him. Mr. Miller was truly one of a kind and his family and friends are going to miss him immensely. In addition to his wife, he left behind to cherish his memory his son, Ernest Ray (Ashley) Miller, Jr. of Springfield, MO; his daughter, Stephanie (Rob) Groves of Lenexa, KS; his brother, Schuller Allen (Debbie) Miller of Chesapeake, VA; three sisters: Virginia Lee (James H.) Ryan of Bell Buckle, TN, Lucille (Joe) Stainback of Clarksville, VA, and Penny (Daniel) Smith of Clarksville, VA; and four grandchildren: Kloey Walters, Trystin Miller and Dominic Miller all of Springfield, MO and Jaden Groves of Lenexa, KS.
