William Thomas Bill Lorz, age 58 of Columbia, passed away Saturday morning, November 9, 2013 at his residence. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. Catherine Catholic Church, officiated by Father Davis Chackaleckel. The family will be at Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, November 11, 2013 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM for visitation. The visitation will end with the Rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 1:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral procession will depart at 1:30 PM for travel to St. Catherine Catholic Church. Bill will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Born in Columbus, Ohio on November 25, 1954, Bill was the son of Francis James and Lucille Agnes Connor Lorz, and was retired from General Motors. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus. Bill was a man of great faith who put his love for others into action through the Knights of Columbus. He served at many community activities. He will be remembered as a loving man who adored his family and pets. He enjoyed working outside tending to the plants and trees in the yard. He loved the beauty of nature and spent a great deal of time surrounded by it. In addition to his wife, Marilyn Lee ORyan Lorz of Columbia, he is survived by his daughter: Amy (Don) Owens of Columbia; son: Charles Lorz; siblings: F. Michael (Kathryn) Lorz of Columbus, OH, Helen Maynard of Columbus, OH, James (Nancy) Lorz of Centerville, OH, Jennie (Bernie) Shook of Columbus, OH; and Robert (Jeanie) Girardi of Urbana, OH; and four grandchildren: Katie, William, Zackary Thomas and Elijah Owens. Bill is also survived by father-in-law and mother-in-law: Thomas and Leona O'Ryan of Monticello, KY; sisters-in-law: Jane David of Franklin, TN, Kathy (Billy) Maberry of Franklin, TN, Theresa Heyder of Columbus, OH, and Mary (Michael) Fairchild of Columbus, OH; brothers-in-law: Thomas (Gerinda) O'Ryan of Columbus, OH, and Joseph (Lesia) O'Ryan of Ft. Knox, KY; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings: Mary Louise Tiller and Cecilia Girardi.
