Mrs. Jennie Mae Cates Morton, 75, a resident of Chestnut Drive in Columbia, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Columbia Care & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services for Mrs. Morton will be conducted Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Parkway Baptist Church with Keith Baker, Doug McCandless, & Harold Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday, November 14, 2007 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Theroy Cates and the late Pearlie Mae Potts Cates Hill. She was married to Floyd Morton. She was retired from Publix Shirt Factory where she worked as a presser. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed yard work, wrestling, flea markets, and loved to give to others. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Ann Marie Roberts of Columbia; three nephews, Hank (Elaine) Roberts of Columbia, Wesley Roberts of Columbia, and Marty (Jan) Roberts of Culleoka; two nieces, Doris (Gordon) Thomas of Mt. Pleasant and Londie Roberts of Columbia; aunt, Adell Cates of Columbia; pets, Fluffy and DoDo; Several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Uriel Cates, J.B. Cates, and Bobby Cates. Pallbearers will be, Wesley Roberts, Marty Roberts, Hank Roberts, Gordon Thomas, Wayne Cates, Steve Cates, Ernest Morton, Robert Allen, Jeremy Baker, and Tony Endsley. Honorary Pallbearers will be, George Morton, Travis Kelley, R.B. Brooks, Bradley Thomas, Roy Roberts, Jr., Jeremy Roberts, Charlie Lewis, Stacy Thomas, Jessica Mangrum, Dana Roberts, Cigi Roberts, Melissa and Alisha Mash, Colene Dooley, and Friends at World Championship Wrestling. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Maury County Unit, P.O. Box 1212 Columbia, TN. 38402-1212. Sincere appreciation from the family to Dr. Linda Monroe, nurses and staff at Columbia Care & Rehabilitation, and Hospice of the Highland Rim.
