Mr. Claud Aaron Pugh, 79, affectionately known as Pop-Paw , and a former resident of Lynnwood Drive, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services for Mr. Pugh will be conducted on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with David Craig officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born in Lawrence County to the late Leonard B. and Lois Ann Workman Pugh, he was raised in Mt. Pleasant. He was married for 51 wonderful years to Ernestine Edmiston Pugh, who passed away June 26, 2001. Mr. Pugh was retired from UCAR, where he worked as a supervisor, and was affiliated with Gateway Tire Company for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was an avid UT fan, and he loved telling or hearing a good joke. But the real love, and the love of his life was his great-grandson, Weston, and anyone who came in contact with Mr. Pugh knew his love for him. Pop-Paw is survived by his daughter, Gail (Freddie) Evans of Columbia; his granddaughter, Christy Marks of Columbia; his great-grandson and namesake, Weston Aaron of Columbia; a brother, Bill (Carol Ann) Pugh of Nashville; a sister-in-law, Gladys Marie Wauford of Franklin; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Rick Wauford, Jimmy Wauford, Larry Chatman, Shannon Alsup, DeWayne Chatman, and Jimmy Beadle. Honorary pallbearers will be retirees of UCAR, employees of Gateway Tire Company, and Dr. Meredith Pugh.
