Ms. Lucille Collins Ball, 85, a resident of Porter Circle, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Ms. Ball will be conducted Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, 609 Bear Creek Pike, with Rev. Jim Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends, Wednesday, December 23, 2009, from 5:00 " 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born in Marshall County, she is the daughter of the late Athie Lee and Gladys Thompson Collins. Ms. Ball was employed with Dupont & Spontex for 40 years, and a former employee of Dixie Manufacturing. She was one of the few women who helped in the refurbishing of Dupont after the fire. Ms. Ball was a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a volunteer at Maury Regional Auxiliary for 15 years, in which she had over 5,000 hours of service. She was an avid gardener, loved her four cats, former CB enthusiast, a Titans fan, a member of the Maury County Democratic Party and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Ms. Ball is survived by her daughter, Gail Haywood Floyd of Smyrna; two grandsons, Shane Floyd and Cory Floyd, both of Columbia; granddaughter-in-law, Michelle (Missy) Floyd of Columbia; three great-grandchildren, Colton, Dalton, and Kayla Floyd, all of Columbia; and former son-in-law, Tommy Floyd of Columbia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Morrow; and two brothers, Leon Collins and Thomas Tom Collins. Active pallbearers will be Cory Floyd, Tommy Floyd, Shane Floyd, Colton Floyd, Dalton Floyd, Terry Thomason, Randy Blair, Fred Jackson, and Bryan Zank. Special friends are Dane Owens, members of Liberty Baptist Church, employees of EKG Department at Maury Regional Medical Center, and members of the Maury Regional Auxiliary.
