Ernest Lee Goats

Ernest Lee Goats, 65, formerly of the Culleoka/Mooresville communities, and a resident of Woods Drive in Columbia, died Monday, April 05, 2010 at NHC Hillview. Funeral Services for Mr. Goats will be conducted on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Serison officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery at Culleoka. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. The staff of Heritage Funeral Home will be assisting the family. A native of Maury County, Tennessee, he was the son of Marshie Virginia Ferguson Goats Cole and the late Phillip Allen Goats. Mr. Goats was a graduate of Columbia Central High School. He was affiliated with activities of Dr. Hollands Catfish Lake in Culleoka; a former employee of Piggly Wiggly in Columbia, The Carpet Center, ICP in Lewisburg, and UCAR. Mr. Goats enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed helping other people and being with people. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Margaret Ann (Larry) Lamar of Lewisburg; brothers, William Allen Goats, Phillip Allen Goats, Larry Marshall (Carolyn) Goats, all of Columbia, and Jerry Wayne Goats of Lewisburg; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Larry Beard, Tim Sweeney, and other family members and friends. A special thanks for the care and concern given Mr. Goats by the staff of NHC/Hillview.
