Sondra Faye Hill

November 26, 1937 - April 1, 2010

Mrs. Sondra Faye Sandy Pennington Hill, 72, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center with her devoted husband of 52 years, James Jim Hill by her side. Funeral Services for Mrs. Hill will be conducted Easter Sunday, April 4th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Aleridge of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens, Garden of Grace. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born in the Henryville Community of Lawrence County, Tennessee, she is the daughter of Jason Alfred and Doris Marie Clark Pennington of Columbia. A graceful lady, she had been ill for several years, but had borne her illness very patiently and bravely. She loved being what is often considered the most difficult job of the military, a military wife. She formed many life-long friendships that endured her extensive travels away from home. She devoted her life to her family, happily staying at home to love and care for them. In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by four children; sons, Jeffrey Clark Hill and James Michael Hill, both of Columbia; daughters, Bethany Kay (Gary) Taylor of Columbia, and Angela Kay (Shane) Waugh of Lynnville; ten grandchildren; Robin Victoria and Savannah Faith Hill, Andrew Roy and Crystal Lee Hill, Shannon Nicole, Joshua Richard and Jacob Robert Holliday, Garrison Scott Taylor, Michaela Blake and Olivia Laurel Waugh; six great-grandchildren; Devin Terrell and Aubrey Nicole Dobbins, Angel Faith Hill, Anna Lee, Maria Elizabeth and Catherine Saleen Walton, and one on the way. She also leaves her sister, Patsy Marie (Billy) Rogers of Columbia; beloved in-laws, Marvin and Barbara Edwards and Albert and Martha Lentz all of Columbia, TN; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Blake Burch Pennington and a sister, Nancy Sue Pennington, and a great-granddaughter, Lauren Surber. Pallbearers will be Gary Taylor, Shane Waugh, Shawn Hunter, Terrell Dobbins, Joshua Holliday, Jacob Holliday, and Ben Pennington. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Rand Hayes and his staff, Ruth Brady, RN, niece, Allison Hanback, and all who had a part in her medical treatment at Maury Regional Medical Center.
