Mr. Robert Lewis Owens, 71, died Monday, October 29, 2007 at his residence on Pulaski Highway in the Hollywood Community. Funeral Services for Mr. Owens will be conducted Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ on the New Lewisburg Highway with Rev. Henry Mobley and Rev. William Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Prayer in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The Giles County native was the son of the late William T. Owens, Sr. and the late Daisy Mae Stofel Owens. He was married to Shelby Jean Pope Owens. Mr. Owens was a former employee of Osbornes Bakery, Union Carbide, where he retired, and owner and operator of Owens Upholstery. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ. He had a passion for John Deere tractors and Tennessee Walking Horses. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Beverly Jean (Bobby) Tennyson and two sons, Dennis Ray (Wanda) Owens and Kenneth Wade (Celia) Owens, all of Culleoka; two sisters, Lucille Vick of Columbia; Mary (Harlan) Casteel of Columbia; two brothers, William (Billie) Owens, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; Leroy (Ann) Owens of Columbia; Grandchildren; Amanda Dawn (Brent) Smith of Walkerton, IN; Brian Ray (Angie) Owens of Manchester, OH; Laura Renee (John) VunCannon of Culleoka; Cassie (Brent) McCandless of Lynnville; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Dean Owens; a grandson, Clint Allen Owens; 2 brothers, James Michael Buddy Owens and George Butler Owens; 2 sisters, Christine Parker and Martha Owens. Pallbearers will be Terry Pope, Brian Owens, Brent McCandless, Brent Smith, Buddy Casteel, Darrell Teeples, John VunCannon, and David Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ and retirees of UCAR.
