John William Hood, 81, died Sunday May 16, 2010, at his home on New Lewisburg Highway. Funeral arrangements for Mr. Hood will be conducted Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 3:30 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Joe Macer officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors provided by the Fort Campbell Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM-9:00PM on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 and Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 2:00 PM until Service time at the Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A native of Maury County, he was the Son of the late Fred Richard and Hildred Willis Hood. He was married to Nell Parsley Hood for 61 wonderful years. Mr. Hood was the first owner/operator of Roto-Rooter in Maury County and served this community in that capacity for 22 years. Serving our Country in the United States Army for 22 years before retiring, he served during three Wars: World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Mr. Hood enjoyed farming as a past-time, and he was a member of Eastside Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hood is survived by his Children, Nelda Jean (Joe) Morgan of Union City, TN and John Richard (Rick) Hood of Lawrenceburg, TN;.Grand Daughters Penny Hood (Will) Green of Columbia, TN and Erin Morgan of Union City, TN; Grand Sons Major Clay (Brigitte) Morgan of Colorado Springs, CO. Drew (Tiffany) Morgan of Aiken SC, and Major Brad (Becky) Morgan of Fort Campbell, KY, Great Grand Children Meagan, Hannah, and Katherine Green; Jacob Morgan, MacKenzie and Addison Morgan, Aiden, and Ali Morgan and Emanuel Morgan; Sisters, Nancy Hood Gray and Emma Jean Hood Lanius; Brothers, Ray Hood and Gary Hood. He was preceded in death by a Sister Annie Mae Hood, and two Brothers Paul Hood and Donald Hood. Pallbearers will be United States Army Soldiers. Honorary Guests will be his Grand Sons, Joe Morgan, Will Green, Lieutenant Colonel Bobby Pedigo, William R. (Bill) Parsley, S.L. Parsley, Jimmy Dawson, David Douglas Upchurch, David Gray, Clarence Weaver, Kyle Upchurch, and Sammy Patterson.
