Mrs. Nettie Minerva Holt McCandless Berry, 91, a resident of Highland Avenue and former resident of the Cross Bridges Community, died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Berry will be conducted Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Cotton and Rev. Robin Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Santa Fe Cemetery. Family will visit with friends Friday after 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A native of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late J.C. Holt and Sally Gray Holt. She was the wife of the late Fleming Stuart McCandless and the late James Isaac Berry. Mrs. Berry was retired from the Housekeeping Department at Maury Regional Hospital and former employee of Kings Daughters and Lowenthal Sweater Factory in Columbia. She enjoyed her dog, Trixie, working search word puzzles and watching wrestling. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Berry was a member of the Cross Bridges Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters; Bonnie (William) Dale of Lewisburg, Faye (Eddie) Estes of Columbia, Linda Gail (Bobby) Howell of Spring Hill; sons, Lanny McCandless of Rogersville, AL., Harry (Peggy) McCandless of Ethridge, Carnell (Sheila) McCandless of Lynnville, Jerry McCandless of Columbia; a sister, Clara Lee Vandiver of Columbia; 14 grandsons, 6, granddaughters, 39 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, James McCandless and Roy McCandless, brothers, Floyd Holt and Jim Holt, sisters, Mary Lizzie Massey, Annie Mae Matlock, Beatrice Matlock, and Pearl Dale. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Glen Voss and members of Cross Bridges Baptist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.heritage-fhcs.com.
